I have had a Pinnacle PCTV for Mac HD mini Stick (80e) for a while
now. I have been using it with Remote Buddy to control all kinds of
things on my Dual 450 Gig-E G4 with Radeon 9800 Pro. Mostly to watch
my video files, and DVDs (we have no TV/Cable here). With Remote
Buddy, I have found a lot of other things that I can control either
directly, or with the virtual mouse. I have been Happy Happy working
from my couch... Until last week when I lost the remote! I have been
searching everywhere for the thing, but it is tiny, maybe twice the
size of the USB stick itself. That was the big drawback from the
beginning, and I always knew it would get lost someday.
So, My question here is, does anyone know if there is a way to use a
different remote with one of these? Hauppauge Digital has bought out
the pctv line and they don't seem to have any remotes separate from
the full package. On their site, they mention that the receiver is
compatible with Apple Remote. I wonder if anyone has experience with
that. But what I would really like to do is pair up a big (not
easily lost) universal remote, without spending huge amounts of money
on this. Has anyone seen any kind of software or procedure that
would allow this for USB IR receivers?
Thanks,
Peter
P.S. I am quite sure that the day after we all figure this out, and I
have my new remote all set, the original will be found sitting on my
kitchen table when I wake up. This is due to the rift in the time
space continuum that affects all remotes, keys, etc...--
