This is true today.
But then they'll likely cost less, too, and still improve the performance of an older computer.
Sadly more likely is that they'll just dry up and disappear, because they'll stop making them. The IDE-> SATA transition hit just as these were coming to market, so only the very early iterations had IDE electronics.
