Thats not entirely true, my Mac here with dual screens didn't slow down at all, and the second card actually ran faster than the one in the graphics-dedicated PCI slot (both cards are Rage 128 cards, the main one has a DVD decoder)

No, it'll actually slow the computer down, since it's using the slower PCI bus.
