I HIGLY recommend you take a little trip down to your local Radioshack and pick up a tube of Arctic silver compound. I have used this in all my computers including PCs. It works great. As far as that white compound goes...????
Seconded on the Arctic Silver recommendation, although the white stuff will work just as well, you're not overclocking these things.
When you do it, remember, this is really a 'less is more', 'a little dab'll do yah' kind of deal.
For those CPU's squeeze out a drop a little bigger than, say, a lentil, in the middle of the cpu, and take a stright-edge razor blade to the top and make sure you get ALL traces of the old stuff off first. Check both the CPU and the heat sink.
One tube of Arctic Silver will last you a long, long time unless you're doing this every week.
