I was considering upgrading my beige mac memory to its max and referenced Mactracker for the specifications. It says that the max memory is 192MB (apple) and 768mb (actual). I am not sure I understand what that means. What is the maximum ram you can put into the beige G3 Desktop?
Many of Apple's older systems have official RAM specifications based on available RAM modules when the system was originally shipped.
In the case of the Beige G3's the largest available DIMMS at the time of release were 64 Megs, hence 3 x 64 megs = 192.
However, the circuitry can handle up to 256megs per slot, so eventually, when 256 meg DIMMS were available, the system was upgradeable to 768 MB.
Most reputable RAM vendors (such as Data Memory Systems <http://www.datamemorysystems.com > will show you the maximum configurable RAM for your system.
