You might want to stick with 10.4, and even for Tiger you should have more RAM. I put 10.5 on a Sawtooth with a dual 500 MHz (from a gig-e) and 2 GB RAM and it crawled along very slowly.... Leopard ran acceptably on my Digital Audio G4, dual 533 MHz and 1.5 GB RAM.
