Anybody got any bright ideas? The only thing I could think of was to get a small ups.

I've got a regular G5 that does the same thing, but not too often. It's been a topic on this list before, brought up by someone else who described an identical problem. My G5 is attached to a UPS and still does it. I'm pretty certain it's current related, I've seen the lights almost imperceptibly dim for a split second when it happens, but other electronics have no problems. Also, it doesn't shutdown, it simply goes dead instantly, as if the power were shutoff in the same way as when you hold the Power button on the front panel. I've got no clue what causes this. It happens to me about once every two weeks now, normally when I'm not at the computer. I've only witnessed it happen a couple times, and I wasn't using the computer either time. My computer's Energy Saver settings are set to "never" Sleep, so it's not a Sleep issue. I think it's some sort of G5 hardware glitch since it happened to me on both 10.4.11 and 10.5.8.
