This is interesting. I use mine a lot at night and it's never had a problem near midnight. Mine normally has this problem in the early morning hours, typically between 6AM and 8AM local time. This problems DOES seem to have a time related component to it, but I've always assumed it was something related to the way the power company delivers the current? Perhaps like there's a tiny voltage spike or something that's about the same time of day? It doesn't occur at the exact same time, but the window of time is weighted to a specific few hours normally.
