I do not believe that I have any USB devices that would cause a problem
(keyboard and mouse) save an iPod cable with an iPod attched. But I still do
not think that that is causing the problem as it has happened with just a
keyboard and mouse attatched. I am not sure if a process is an active program,
but if so, yes. I have OS X and ubuntu installe; this has happened during an
update to ubuntu.
