Based on technology it seems feesable but could fry your processor. The bus
speed on the 867 is 133 MHz the bus speed on the dual 1.42 is 167 MHz. This
would be approximately 20% bus speed increase assuming the 867 processor is
capable of running on a 167 Mhz bus this would over clock the processor by 20%
this would put the processor up to 1040 Ghz. I'm more of a PC person than
Macintosh and I know in a PC world for a 20% over-clock you need some really
good cooling. I guess my point is I wouldn't recommend it unless you got kick
butt cooling.

I am not really concerned about the ability to boot OS 9. I am concerned as to
will the computer boot/work with the 867 processor on the 1.42 board. The board
does have firewire 800 but I am not really concerned about 800 as long as there
is firewire. I just cant seem to find anything anywhere about the 867 and the
difference in the board speed. I realize that most people wouldnt put a slower
processor on a faster board but its what I have on hand.
I am also concerned about the power supply. Will it work on the newer 1.42
board? I know there is a wattage difference but dont know if it should be a
concern. I am thinking the additional power is for the larger processor and the
firewire 800 but cant seem to find out about that either.
Would the processor run at an "overclocked" condition because of the different
bus speed? Any way to find out what it would be, or if it is even within the
operating range.
I did try cleaning the ram with no difference in results.
