I have 3 FireWire 400 Devices that I'm considering daisy chaining: Two HDs and an optical drive.

Are there any benefits, considerations, boot-ability (on the fw400 devices) and what-not I don't know about, because I don't know about daisy chaining other than hooking up a bunch of devices. Pros and cons, please?

Daisy chaining is exactly how Firewire was designed to be used. Go for it!

Consideration #1: Bus power. Firewire supplies some power, but runs out quick if you string up a bunch of leeching devices. Shouldn't be a problem if most of the devices have their own tho.

Consideration #2: Performance (i/o bandwidth). Just like any bus, think about how you're using it. FW can throw about 390 Mbps. That's usually faster than most single devices can sustain. But if you ramp up on multiple devices at once... at some point it may pay to create multiple chains.

If things seem twitchy, check your system log. The FW drivers are pretty good about logging reasonable messages there.
