The G4 cube does have the 128GB drive limit, but I found these
instructions worked to remove it from my G4 Quicksilver (2001) and
they say they are designed for the G4 Cube, so you may well be able to
circumvent the problem.

I'd also recommend the processor upgrade, I went from a 966mhz iBook
G4 to a 1Ghz Powerbook G4 and noticed a huge improvement in
performance, although this may also be down to other reason, such as
256mb more RAM.
