I recently put a Tiger install disk DVD image on an external Firewire drive. I was able to boot from it when I first did this. Either it went bad or I'm doing something wrong here. Does anyone know of this method of installation?

Why would you do that?

The bootable system on that DVD is a tailored/crippled environment created for the installation work. That's it. If you can boot from a hard drive - internal or external - why would you want to boot from a copy of that DVD? Why not just boot from a full OS installation?
