Hey everybody. I have recently purchased a 2.5" SATA HDD enclosure for my Power Mac G4, and ever since i had it plugged in my system, my Mac has sleep issues. It works ok in sleep mode whenever i have it unplugged, but is there any way i can get the computer into sleep mode without unplugging and re-plugging the external HDD all the time? The PM G4 is graphite, and it runs Leopard. The external HDD is plugged through USB.
It might be you need to move the hard drive icon to the Trash (Unmount it), and turn it off, before putting the Mac to Sleep. Otherwise the USB drive might be sending a signal to the Mac, waking it up from Sleep.
I'm actually guessing here based on experience with my Mac and a USB Printer. If I have my Mac in Sleep mode, and turn Off (or On) the USB printer, my Mac wakes from Sleep.
Maybe others can help more. What enclosure is? One from a Dealer you could pose the question to?
