Alright. thanks for the help. That does help, but isn't the HDD supposed to re-mount after it wakes from sleep?

My FW external hard drive (a miniStack v2.5) Mounts if I turn it on while the Mac is awake. It also Mounts if it is on, when my Mac wakes from Sleep. It is connected to my onboard FW. Haven't tested it under USB ...

I have another device that is FW, a canopus ADVC300 digital/analog converter. It warns not to turn it off while the computer is in a Sleep mode or if the computer has been turned off while the canopus has remained on. It messes up the OHIC firewirw protocol or something of that nature (a novice here) ...

Here's one Apple Support article on Sleep Mode:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2412

Probably can search for more info on FW and USB connected devices. They'd probably be different if connected to a 3rd party USB or FW PCI card ... seems like the slots are turned off according to that article.

Maybe someone else will pick up the thread and know more ...
