The media center is in another room than the Macbook, which needs to remain there most of the time because of the printer, hard drive, speakers, etc. that are generally attached to it while I'm at home. If I don't want to go across the room to use the mouse/keyboard that are connected to the Media Center every time I change the channel/volume, I guess it goes without saying that I don't want to walk into the other room to do the same thing.
