Congratulations! You've been finding all kinds of problems with your Macs, and now you've found one of the most difficult to find of all. Your Mac thinks it's a client of a network server and is looking for that server and the OS installed on it. To rectify, push the power button, then hold down the Option key. When all the bootable volumes are loaded, select the Mac's hard drive. That should do it.
