Lightening processor load will certainly help.
I have a couple of 500 MHz machines I like to play DVDs on and if I have the Mail on each incoming causes a glitch so you need all the processor you can get. You should be able to play images with the Mini in fine fashion though. Also I use an Ethernet wireless n bridge on my Cubes because it's faster than AirPort b card.
