That one mad me laugh. No, Microsoft is a software company. Apple is ... well, Apple is whatever it is they are. But they are certainly not just a software company. Maybe you could say Apple is a product company. They don't really sell either hardware or software per se. They sell the premise that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
