Dan (and John), I have a back up of my G4 iMac running 10.4.11 using SuperDuper on a LaCie Firewire external drive. It is not exactly light weight! But the Firewire won't work, either. I still think the easiest solution is to find a 10.4 install CD. I don't need to have iTunes, iPhoto, Garage Band or any of those CD- hogging Apps.
