The machine shuts down normally and it boots up fine. However, if it
is running and I use Restart command from Apple Menu, it restarts as
far as the chime and nothing further. I then have to shut off using
power switch and then start.
Starting in Single User mode and typing "reboot", the following
appears after "MACH Reboot":
AppleSMU_pmu_PE_halt_restart
IOI2C dev...@b2::
read I2C device is offline
On an earlier attempt to reboot from Single User mode, the following appeared:
launchbd:com.aple.syslogd:
exited while shutdown is in progress, will not restart unless s
demand requires it
Is there any Terminal or Single User mode command I can use to
correct this? Or will I have to re-install the OS?
Is this possibly a hardware issue? which I doubt since the machine
does shut down and boot OK. Also, hardware tests OK with Apple
Hardware Test and TechToolPro.
Machine is a PowerMac G5 Late 2005 QuadCore 2.5GHz.
Any suggestions appreciated.
