To solve the VHS to DVD task, I decided on the more expensive ADVC-300

basically all I want to do is copy my VHS tapes and make DVDs. I doubt
I'll get into anything fancy. I have iMovie v. 4.
this does look very interesting. I may go with the Roxio product just
because of price.
I use the Elgato EyeTV 250 Plus (something like that). I'm using it
with a G4 mini which is somewhere around the performance of a Dual 1
GHz. It can handle recording. It bogs down a bit when trying to do two
things at once (recording and playback for example) but only the
playback suffers. I mostly use it for recording off the air but I have
used it to record VHS tapes too. I bought it from www.macsales.com at a
pretty good price as a refurbished unit.
