I still have a problem on 10.3.9 where I'm stuck. *.dmg files simply won't work
when I attempt to open them while logged in as a privileged user.

I created a new user with no privileges and he is able to read the *.dmg stuff
and decompress it. After that I can login as myself and use the decompressed
files to proceed with installations.

There must be something in my home directory that should be deleted and allowed
to recreate itself but so far, I haven't found it.
