How do I know if I have a warranty? Mine was made in 2002. I really haven't used it much but nothing's forever:-)

The manufacturing year and week is always printed on the drive's label.

The warranty usually starts several weeks after that date, thereby giving a "grace period" to get your particular drive through the distributor or OEM network.

If the drive was an OEM drive, say, one which was supplied by Apple (and thereby delivered with your machine) or another OEM (and purchased as surplus goods and sold to you directly through OWC or Fry's Electronics or whomever) then the normal warranty is invalid, and the OEM's warranty applies.

If the drive was a "retail" drive, and sold as-new directly to you though a retailer, and actually only then, does it have the full manufacturer's warranty.
