Is there an adapter that will achieve full resolution possibilities of the 27" Apple Cinema Display (Aluminum LED), while using an ATI Radeon 9800Pro Mac Edition?

Oh, the brand new one?

You need a DVI-Mini display port adapter like this:

<http://www.amazon.com/Mini-Displayport-Adapter-Atlona-Dual/dp/B003CWEXWO/ref=pd_cp_e_1 >

or this <http://www.amazon.com/Gefen-DVI-Mini-DisplayPort-Converter/dp/B002QPWBEK > I think.

Yes ... close ... but its specs say:

Product Features and Technical Details
Product Features
• Converts DVI to DisplayPort using the Mini-DisplayPort connector interface
        • Supports video at 1920x1...@60 resolution
        • True pixel-to-pixel signal conversion without scaling
        • Built-in EDID support. Durable converter casing.
• This version supports single-link DVI. Dual-Link is not supported at this time.
Technical Details
• Connector Details: 1 x DVI Female Digital Video; 1 x DisplayPort Female

But:

My 9800 Pro is capable of

2048 x 1152 16 : 9
2048 x 1536 4 : 3

so the adapter falls short of what I currently can send.

The Apple Cinema Display is capable of "16:9 aspect ratio and an astonishing 2560-by-1440 resolution" ...

Another earlier G3-G5 thread says the ATI Radeon 9600 and greater were capable of something called DVI-DL (Dual-Link).

But where's an adapter for such? not yet?
