There seems to be a lot of Intel kext development going on in the

Does anyone know of *any* open source or other public domain or
publicly available kext PPC development?
There are some open source projects that involve drivers.
I'm not sure why, other than for some collector's jones, a "kext
repository" would ever be needed. Drivers are useful for a specific
device or a class thereof - so they belong with the support for said
device.
I am mostly thinking about drivers for PCI cards: via chipset USB
card, multiport NIC cards, SATA/PATA cards, and WiFi cards. There
are a lot of inexpensive PCI components coming out now but still
most are
not supported on my G4. Seems if drivers could be ported it would
extend the usefulness of the machines.
I like the idea of making more devices available for our older
machines, but I wonder as to the practicality? My experience has
been that a lot of those "pc only" devices are crapola. They're
cheap - both in price and quality. A better quality product is
usually more cost effective and higher performance.
As to developing kexts... Get into XCode. Apple has some great
tutorials and such. There are also a number of XCode programming
books available. Recall that Darwin - the core of OS X, is open
source. I would expect the class drivers and such would all be there
for your perusal / use.
