FWIW my new old stock G5 DP had a similar issue without any chassis damage. If you hadn't opened the ODD tray in the last few minutes you would have to pull the case door down with your fingers and then push in on the tray when you heard it try to open. I suppose that's a Pioneer issue more than an Apple issue, but again FWIW.
