Start by identifying the specific model G5. You can do this by either clicking on the Apple (top left corner of the screen) and selecting "About This Mac" or by removing the side panel and looking for the sticker on the bottom of the interior case. Different G5 models can take different amounts of RAM and you will want to max out the RAM to get optimal performance. You also might want a better video card than the one that came with the G5, and that will also depend upon the model G5 (AGP or PCI-e video slot).
