Like most have stated I have had no success with viewing streaming Youtube
videos. My best Mac is a 733 MHz DA and in streaming Youtube there are long
pauses with only a few seconds of play. However once the video is downloaded
using only the Activity window in Safari it plays without a hiccup with the
free
MPEG Streamclip video player on the DA. Copying the same video over to a 400
Mhz B&W it also plays without a hitch. I do have Perian installed but don't
think Perian is needed with Streamclip.
All the vids downloaded are 3-10 minutes long and not likely HD. I guess if the
files were much longer or HD this may not be practical but perhaps a sort'a
work-around for some old PPC Mac's? I don't view many Youtube vids just some
favorite music that crops up from time to time. --glen
