PCI-ATA cards have been and are pricey $60-100 and more for cards with greater
functionality. It's cheaper to go SATA. I think what a lot of people are
facing are cases where the cheapest IDE drive they can buy is a 160 Gb drive
and they just want to get a new drive and not spend a lot. Note that the
smallest IDE drive that Mac Sales has is 160 Gb. So if you get a 160 Gb drive
you might well want to get the most out of it.

I know I formatted a 160 Gb drive for 128 Gb and just ignored the rest of the
space because I didn't need it (although it is now formatted 160 Gb in a QS
2002).

Mac Sales
PCI-IDE card, $80
PCI-SATA card, $74
IDE 160Gb, $58
SATA 160Gb, $48

Note that these are the normal prices, Mac Sales has some of the items on sale
right now.

IDE total, 138
SATA total, 122
