Space wouldn't be a problem as I would change the case. The hard drive wouldn't be a problem either as I can use a cf card and adapter as the drive. I would rather have a complete system vs an ipod as I already use that for mobile music. I could go with an oldish intel but id rather use something I know will be reliable
