Just to add to the confusion, LaCie and OWC made otherwise identical
SATA-I (1.5 Gb/c) PCI controller cards.

The LaCie version had iSATA connectors for its external SATA drives.

The OWC version had eSATA connectors for its external SATA drives.

Lots of adapters are sold by Hong Kong-based sellers which can accomplish
a variety of conversions.

I usually have at least two more SATA ports than I have internal SATA
drives, so I usually make these into eSATA connections.

I have also made an all internal PATA Hackintosh just so the internal
SATAs can be made into eSATA connections.
