When I try to properly shut down or restart my G4 Quicksilver OS 10.5.8, the icons leave the screen (the screensaver image - is that what you call it? - remains) and the beach ball spins forever.

I can shut it down with the power button and bring it back up.

I zapped the PRAM. I've repaired permissions and run disk repair. The disk repair had to make some repairs, which seems a little ominous to me.

But it's back to square one. I can't paroperly shut down or restart the machine.

Sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks
