> Are there any solutions or fans recommended to quiet it down a little bit?
If a fan is noisy, the bearings are shot and the fan should be replaced. The lubricant in the bearings is "lubricated for life" ... the life of the lubricant, not the life of the motor. The motor is probably still good, but the lubricant isn't. Such brushless dc motor bearings are not designed to be services. If the bearings are noisy, replace the entire fan. > How can I determine which fan is the loudest? The large case fan plugs in. Temporarily disconnect the case fan. The PSU fan will continue to operate. If the case fan proves to be the noisy one, replace it. If the PSU fan proves to be the noisy one, replace the PSU. The PSUs are considered "non-serviceable" as there are lethal voltages inside, even after the ac power has been removed. The potential across some components is over 325 volts. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
