WPA is better than WEP, there is no such thing as WEP256. Only locally, and only for those devices that accept N connectivity. Once you've got a decent connection to the wifi router, streaming is mostly constrained by your internet speed to your door. I've got a Linksys G router at home; picked up from Woot on sale for $19, works fine to stream HBO to my iPad, and I've only got a 1.5 MB/sec connection to the internet.
