I should have mentioned that Western Digital's enterprise drives are warranted for 5 years and have a good reputation. They cost a bit more, but worth it in my mind.
Also it is a good idea to maintain an incremental backup, a la Time Machine, for retrieving data that has been lost or corrupted; and a bootable backup with Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper! so you can get back up and running quickly in the event of a catastrophic failure.
