Hi John! I myself haven't seen a G4 MDD with a Zip-drive, but they do exist, albeit in small numbers.
I suspect the mounting of the ZIP-drive in the MDD to be similar to how they were mounted in preceding G4's: mounted flush to the front panel, with the opening in the front panel having the exact shape of the opening on the ZIP-drive. The bracket inside is a HDD bracket and a standard PC ZIP-drive can be mounted (they don't even differ from each other I believe). The door/latch/panel that provides acces to the ZIP-drive simply snaps into place on the QS, but might differ on the MDD.
