Yea. But if you think about...
USB 3 devices have newer/faster interface chips. So of course,
they'll drive the interface faster even in USB 2 mode. Heck, even
the cheap USB 3 chips (not available on the market yet) will be
faster.
What really counts tho, is the actual peripheral device and its i/o
buffer. If it's a slow/older nand (flash) stick or card, it ain't
gonna be faster. If it's a slow/cheap HD, it ain't gonna be faster...
...I don't mean to ding Hint's finding. It's just that it needs to
be kept in perspective so people don't jump to conclusions then get
upset when things don't work out. A turtle is still just a turtle,
even after you slap on them brand new hot pink running shoes with a
N* swoosh.
