It appears likely that it's a Late 2005 since this was the only model
of 2.0 GHz G5 to have 8 RAM slots. I believe this means you've got a
single CPU with dual core. To be certain, there should be a grey label
inside below the lower edge of the clear plastic cover along the metal
of the case. This should have the serial # in VERY TINY print. You can
type that serial # into this website to get EXACT information on your
Mac:

I have borrowed a 1.8gHz model as a swap bed, but a,m not sure of
the power supplies are equivalent.
I believe you're correct, the power supplies are NOT equivalent.
Only thing that has shown true is that moving both the HD's from
mine to the other fires up perfectly as my machine was.
So your HDs are OK.
Mine was only staring up in SAFE mode and no seeing audio devices.
Then after a couple hours' power failure and power return (the power
light is ON as soon as you put the power cord in. Pushing the START
button does nothing. Power light just glows.
Sounds like it has a blown power supply. You can use a multimeter to
test the voltages, here's a pinout:

If it's reasonably fixable, it's completely sufficient form my
production work. If not, a reasonable replacement needs
recommendation, whether that's another G5 or something like a Mini
or other used but similarly capable machine.
Finding a replacement power supply might cost more than a whole used G5?
There are cheap G5's on LEM-Swap, for example, this post from Dec.5th:

If you're buying new, get an Intel Mac or make a Hack from an Intel PC.
