Illirik,
Thanks for the reply.
<You can get a 1600MHz for about $100, and it will
run 10.4 or 10.5 like a champ.>
As soon as I sell enough in my business to afford a dual processor Mac I
plan to buy an MDD.
<AFAIK, 10.4 can be slightly faster than 10.5.
SInce your G4 is a mere 350MHz, unless you have good reasons to favour 10.5,
I'd go for 10.4 (it still has Classic support also, that was dropped in
10.5).>
I was not aware of the lack of Classic support in 10.5. That is good to
know.
<Honestly, though, I'm afraid you would find OSX painfully slow on your G4.>
This Mac came with 10.3 loaded on it. And it seemed to be pretty good.
So it sounds like I am fortunate.
Neal Lewis from first post. <Money is an important consideration.
<I understand, but perhaps you can find a G4 QuickSilver or MDD between 50
and 100$. Those Macs would be way better for handling OSX.>
Agreed. See my comment above about selling enough to afford probably an MDD.
Thanks for your information and opinions. Very helpful.
Neal Lewis
