Before that, I have been using a PM G4 DA (upgraded with a 1.4 GHz CPU) for many years, and I just loved it. Apart from some slugginess with Adobe CS3 and when browsing, it was still just fine. If the G5 wasn't for free :-D I'd still be using the G4. Gaming, of course, is a different thing. I'd say that OSX loves Ram. Having 1GB Ram might improve speed (especially if you have several open apps at the same time).
