Why not just use a file manager utility to move your wanted files?
The simple old fashioned way to batch process ?

Because tools like Migration Assistant take care of all the niggling little issues of moving account information over and find EVERYTHING, doing repetitive, mindless tasks like a gorram computer SHOULD, freeing up the human mind for tasks better suited to our unique processing power ....:-)

LESSON ON POINT:
IN trying to slve a problem with a mid-2005 G5, I moved the drives into a 1004 G5 and it works fine, but I had done a self-guided (MIS- guided..?) restore of a G5 10.4.11 system where I wipe/re-installed the OS from disks, (including setting it up with a new password) then shoved a buncha files over from a CCC backup.

it works, but it's Not all There.... some actions want me to give the password from my new install... others oddly only will take the password form the PREVIOUS install. Once I solve the hardware problem with the mid-2005 G5 I can re- address this properly, but for the time being I have a working rig.
