No. People are SERIOUSLY overthinking this, IMO.

Run Migration Assistant. Select the users your want moved over, you do need to
move over your user folders, of course.

What we mean by 'Let Migration Assistant create a new user' is:

On the Old Mac there are three accounts Admin, Joe and Barbara.

When setting up the new Mac you created the account Admin.

Run Migration Assistant, with the new Mac and old Mac connected (fia FW,
ethernet, or a mounted time machine or CCC volume, however.

When the interface comes up, select:

Applications (if you don't want to manually re-install everything; Migration
Assistant is smart enough to not overwrite the existing apps.

User Files: Drop the reveal arrow down and select Joe and Barbars, because
those accounts do not exist on the new mac. Admin does, so don't check the box
there.

You can also migrate system settings and other files; this will usually take
care of all the other settings, like networking, etc.

Of course the ideal time to do this is the very first time you start up the new
mac or new OS, the first thing after the language, it asks if you want to
migrate your old users. This has worked flawlessly every time I've ever tried
it, with the sole exception of dealing with Active Directory-bound users with
local profiles set to be Mobile accounts. I had to go in and fix their local
Open Directory record on the old mac to include their name, then Migration
assistant worked.

I expect that this effects approximately...NONE of the people on this list :-)
