You only need the OS ROM to make OS9.2.2 boot on your PM G4 MDD. If you
have a working OS9.2.2 on any other machine just drag the system and
application folder to the drive via TDM or other method and the drop in
the ROM and you're good to go. No installation is nessesary. I can help
you off list if you want.

Thanks, that makes sense, and fits what I've read online. From the link
posted in another reply, I think I should be fine to get things going
now, without having to contact you off list. Thanks so much for the
offer though.

Cheers, very handy that. I hadn't managed to find that on my own.

Great info, thanks!

I'm just going by the other info I have read online, and it seems from
John's info that it is the ROM which is the issue here. I read that the
retail OS 9.2.2 disk didn't come with that ROM. Not sure what version
you were sent.

It seems from Wikipedia and Apple support, that the last version of the
MDD was the 2003 model, which was a FW400 with a 167MHz bus, which can
boot into OS 9.2.2. This version appears to be a later model than the FW800.
Thanks again everyone.
