My G5 is sick and my G4 can't read CDs so can't verify. I've never used Classic on the G5 (out with the old) but whenever I tried to launch a Classic app, it dutifully asked if was OK to launch Classic (I had set it to in System Prefs). Bruce Johnson has the answers you need, and several others here, I'm sure, but I'm pretty confident the G5 was designed to support Classic out of the box. Good luck!
