I put a 64GB Kingspec SSD (dunno read-write specs) into my 400 MHZ Pismo (Powerbook G3 with Firewire). It reduced boot time and application loading time by between a quarter and a third, and is totally quiet, giving off no heat - so I’m happy to go away for a fortnight, leaving the Pismo as a webserver. The SSD I bought didn’t have tapped holes for the screws that hold on the lugs to keep the drive in place - no real worry, just a little niggle. Hope the surgery goes well!
