Dual 1.8 G5. When I put it to sleep, sometimes, not every time, I come home and the fans are racing and it sounds like a 747 taking off. I already reduced speed in the system prefs. Before I reduced, the fans would come on once or twice an hour, but never loud racing. Since I reduced, the fans /never/ come on except in sleep mode.
I would think in sleep mode /less/ power and heat would be generated. Anyone have a theory on this? I installed a temp monitor utility, and it tells me the processors are running about 105 degrees F; the memory controller heatsink at about 118 F. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
