10 years ago I bought a lot of software and associated hardware on LEM Swap list. I always made sure I got the original codes. I believe non had been registered before, which was common in those days before all software demanded a call home..
Sometimes I would buy an unregistered seat license. Also common then. It was policy then that SW that had been registered could be abandoned by the registrant by a letter or email to the publisher.
