It seems unlikely that a thread started on Aug.15th regarding booting an Installer Disc from another Mac hasn't been solved over 3 weeks later, but perhaps not?
For certain this easy solution is to connect the two computers with a Firewire cable with the G5 booted in Target Disk Mode with the Installer DVD in the optical drive of the G5, then reboot the laptop holding the Option key and select the DVD of the G5 to boot from.
