Mark, If it was you who created the document, when you save it as a PDF you should see a "Security Options" button in the lower left corner of the "Save" dialogue box. If you click on that, it will prompt you to set a password for opening the file and/or printing and/or copying it. Maybe you knew this already; I don't think it actually encrypts the file, but maybe the password protection is enough. I choose a password that the recipient will know when given a clue (e. g., "the year of your birth") so that I don't have to send the actual password.
